Meeting God: A short story with numerous endings

Mankind grew. Mankind learned. Mankind evolved. Mankind struggled and bettered itself, climbed to the heavens, and sought God.
And found Him.
Man looked upon the face of God. God looked back, startled, and said,
"How did you get out of the playpen?"


Mankind grew. Mankind learned. Mankind evolved. Mankind struggled and bettered itself, climbed to the heavens, and sought God.
And found Him.
Man looked upon the face of God. God looked back, startled, and said,
"How did you get out of the playpen? Upsey-daisy! Back you go! Now stay there!"


Mankind grew. Mankind learned. Mankind evolved. Mankind struggled and bettered itself, climbed to the heavens, and sought God.
And found Him.
God said, "Who are you?"
Man replied, "I am Man, and now you are merely god."


Mankind grew. Mankind learned. Mankind evolved. Mankind struggled and bettered itself, climbed to the heavens, and sought God.
And found Him.
And man said, "Hi Dad. Can I borrow the keys to the universe?"


Mankind grew. Mankind learned. Mankind evolved. Mankind struggled and bettered itself, climbed to the heavens, and sought God.
And found Him.
And mankind was disappointed to find that She was of the wrong race, sex, and religion.


Mankind grew. Mankind learned. Mankind evolved. Mankind struggled and bettered itself, climbed to the heavens, and sought God.
And found Him.
God said, "Oh man! Mom's gonna kill me when she finds out I let you get loose!"


Mankind grew. Mankind learned. Mankind evolved. Mankind struggled and bettered itself, climbed to the heavens, and sought God.
And found Him.
God said, "Have a seat. I'll be with you in just a moment."
But a moment to God is an eternity to Man, and when God returned Man had long since vanished.
