The club performs numerous services, including communications for bike-a-thons, SKYWARN, and Alton's Halloween parade. Call sign K0LIR The Saint Louis Amateur Radio Club was founded about 1930. It is an ARRL-Affiliated Club and it has the original affiliation certificate signed by Hiram Percy Maxim. The club is limited to 35 members as dictated by the size of its clubhouse and St. Louis County fire safety ordinances. The clubhouse is located in Upper Buder Park. The club's biggest activities are Field Day and the annual Halloween Hamfest. It publishes a monthly newsletter called "Sidebands". Regular meetings are the third Friday of the month at 8 p.m. but members meet frequently at the clubhouse for special projects or just plain fun.

group. Its purpose is to augment public service communications during
disasters or major emergencies.

The St.Louis County SKYWARN Program operated by the St.Louis County Police,
Office of Emergency Management, exists to assist the National
Weather Service in reporting of severe weather, dissemination of severe weather statements, watches and warnings, and gathering related storm
information. The collective efforts of amateur radio through the Radio Amateur
Civil Emergency Service (RACES), business band, Civil Air
Patrol (CAP), public saftey radio, and County alerting systems comprise the
St.Louis County SKYWARN Radio Network and the Weather Alert Radio Net.
The Saint Louis County Police Office of Emergency Management, with the cooperation of the National Weather Service, sponsors several weather spotter classes each Spring. The classes are free and open to the public. Attendees are taught how to spot potentially dangerous weather and report it. The amateur radio callsign for St.Louis County RACES/SKYWARN is WB0AAF. (See picture of the club station at the top of this page.) Call sign WA0FYA "ZBARC" is an organization of people who share a common interest in Amateur Radio communications and technology. ZBARC is a general interest club, its members are engaged in a wide variety of Amateur Radio related activities. The yearly dues are $18. ZBARC holds a regular monthly meeting on the first Wednesday of each month except August and December. These meetings begin at 7:30pm and generally end around 8:30 or 9:00. Club activities, projects, maintenance, and expenditures are typical topics for discussion at these monthly meetings. There is usually time before and after the meeting for socializing. In addition to the regular meetings, there is an informal gathering at the club building almost every Wednesday night. Members and visitors alike are welcome. The club maintains a repeater on 147.24 MHz, holds Volunteer Exam sessions, sponsors packet radio repeaters, holds a weekly net, holds a yearly field day, a yearly hamfest, a yearly picnic, and a Christmas party.
